Our Lake Arbor Purpose Driven Club Projects
The Lake Arbor Optimist Club was established in May of 1975. We celebrated our 50th Anniversary with a party inviting our past club members, the CO/WY Optimist Governor, past Optimist Governor and Lt. Governor.
We are involved in Optimist International signature programs such as Junior Golf, Essay and Oratorical Scholarships, the New OWLS (Optimist Working for Learning Success program). www.optimistinternational.org We also are involved in several community projects and support other service organizations.
Essay Scholarship
The Essay Contest is sponsored by Optimist International to give young people the opportunity to write about their own opinions regarding the world in which they live. The approach can encompass a young person’s personal experience, the experience of their country or a more historical perspective. In addition to developing skills for written expression, participants also have the opportunity to win a college scholarship. Each year Optimist International gives a topic for the student to write about. The 2026 Topic was “How My Acts of Service Help Me Understand What My Community Means to Me"
Law Officer Recognition
Each year our club recognizes the law officer of the year with his family and other officers. We provide a meal and then there is a question/answer time.
Bicycle Recycle
We have a team of a few men that recycle bicycles and then they are donated to schools, Santa House, reservations, etc.
Street Clean Up
The Lake Arbor Optimist Club adopted Simms Street from 72nd to 80th, we pick up trash once or twice a year,
